THE WOOD

17 acres of gorgeous woodland to relax and roam in..

Half is ancient woodland that is carpeted in the Spring with bluebells, celandines and wood anemones. it is a magical space, great for den making or simply lying down and practicing some forest bathing. The other half of the woodland where the tents are located was planted by hand some 50 years ago by the previous landowner that was passionate about nature and husky racing!  He and his landscaper friend designed tracks for the husky and sledge and then planted all the trees themselves. It is a diverse amount of varieties of trees; oak, spruce, larch, hazel, beech, ash, wild cherry, silver birch and we even have a couple of Dutch Elm trees.

The amazing feedback that lots of guests have given us is how amazing it is to let the children go and explore in the wood. The freedom they have.. The wood is safe for even the very little ones. There are plenty of swings dotted around to find.

You can experience some star gazing from the top of our South facing valley. The skies are so clear of light pollution so perfect for spotting star constellations and maybe shooting stars too.

Explore the footpaths though 17 acres of beautiful woodland.. Children can bring their bikes to explore them when the tracks are drier. The kids can make dens, climb trees, collect firewood in the wheelbarrows, find tracks, see wildlife like rabbits, badgers, deer .. Lots and lots of birds to spot too.. Real ‘back to nature’ stuff.

We love fire! Everyone has their fire pit for that quinessital toasting of marshmallows and BBQ ing, and their own little BBQ too.

The pizza oven is available to all who wish to cook their pizza the traditional way. Great activity for adults and kids!

Have a long hot soak under the stars in our wood fired hot hubs too.. Bliss! We have two hot tubs in total. Just pop your name down on arrival to book your slot. We charge £30 if you’d us to heat for you or £20 if you wish to heat it yourselves. Whatever the weather this is worth experiencing!

Local walks are a great activity too. We have 3 great pubs in walking distance, The New Harp in Hoarwithy, The Plough in Little Dewchurch or the Cottage of Content in Carey (our personal favourite!). Or walk down to the River Wye, takes about 15 minutes.. and picnic and paddle or have a dip.

We can also guide to you to safe wild swimming and paddling spots in the local area.
